Image caption, Cuties has just been released in French cinemas and is coming to Netflix next month Netflix has removed a promotional image which showed girls posing in skimpy outfits in a new film called Cuties. The poster for the French dramaalong with a trailer, had sparked online disapproval and a petition calling for Netflix to drop it. The award-winning drama follows an year-old who joins a dance group. Its maker says it is meant to tackle the issue of sexualisation of young girls. Netflix said it was deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork.

Although the Netflix original brings ahead several interesting points about the sexualization of women in our society, the movie misses the point. While the streaming dais faced severe backlash after releasing the movie on Sept. The french movie follows an 11 year old Muslim girl named Amy growing up in a poor, conservative family. Throughout the movie Amy looks for acknowledgment in the wrong places. All over the film, there are a lot of prolonged, uncomfortable scenes of prepubescent girls dancing, involving twerking, gyrating, and looking seductively at the camera. These scenes were filthy and in my opinion added nothing to the plot. Children just imitate what they accompany, trying to achieve the alike result without understanding the connotation.
